A long-standing research interest of the company is alternative AI paradigms. FdR are currently developing a prototype ‘hedonic’ intelligence engine.
Our experimental AI program stores ingested information in a connectionist structure: i.e., nodes and edges. Its information processing routines are modelled on a number of – perhaps unfashionable – theories of human cognition from areas including emotion (hence ‘hedonic’), learning and automatic thinking. In many ways, this is where it departs from contemporary AI models.
The prototype AI is currently being applied to a simple robotic device powered by a Raspberry Pi. However, the software is designed with an interface which allows its functionality to easily be applied to dynamic data sets for pattern and signal detection.
The prototype was written in Java and connects to a PostgreSQL database.
